Agra Lucknow Expressway Interchanges

The Agra Lucknow Expressway Project is a six-lane access-controlled expressway that will connect Agra and Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. The project’s underpinnings are already in place and the first phase of the construction has started.

This road will be 110m wide with six lanes and interchanges for main traffic. Besides, the project will include underpasses for pedestrians and rest houses.

The entire project is costing about US$2.3 billion. It will link the two large cities in UP and will take approximately four hours. Once completed, the expressway will connect with the Yamuna Expressway, cutting travel time from six hours to three and a half hours.

However, there are many challenges that the project will face. Among them are safety issues and maintenance. However, once completed, the project is sure to become a major boon for the region.

Major Roads

The Agra Lucknow Expressway will include several major roads that cross it. The expressway’s interchanges are 8 lanes wide. The interchanges will be built on four major roads.

Ultimately, the project will have to contend with construction-related issues, such as potholes and detours. The Agra Lucknow Expressway Interchanges will have a major impact on traffic flow along the corridor.

The Agra Lucknow Expressway-Interchanges project will improve the state’s economy by improving transportation and quality. The project will also be a boon to local farmers, as it will increase access to markets, reduce carbon footprint, and help farmers sell their products to larger cities.

A green belt is also being planned along the corridor with trees on either side and plants in the median. The expressway will be a highly efficient way to reach a larger metropolitan area.

Agra Lucknow Expressway Underpasses

The construction of the Agra Lucknow Expressway has taken place in a record time and the greenfield expressway will reduce travel time between the UP cities by two to four hours.

In addition to the underpasses and service roads, the expressway will include interchanges and green belt provisions. The expressway will also feature rest houses, petrol pumps, service centers, and restaurants, among other amenities.

The PPPMC has also specified a three-year execution time for the project.

Role in Economy

Construction of the Agra Lucknow Expressway will result in a boost to the local economy and the real estate market in the region. The road will connect rural areas with large industrial cities like Agra and Lucknow.

It will also help reduce traffic congestion on NH-91, which runs through Aligarh, Etah, and Unnao. Not only will the new expressway cut travel time in half, but it will also facilitate farmers to move their products and supplies quicker. The highway will also improve emergency response.

The Agra Lucknow expressway is a huge undertaking, costing around Rs15,000 crore. It was the first bid in 2013 but didn’t find takers. As such, UPEIDA developed the project to reduce travel time to a third.

Time

The project was completed in 22 months and the Purvanchal Expressway will be completed in twenty-two months. In the meantime, the Bundelkhand Expressway is expected to open a year ahead of schedule.

The expressway has been equipped with the latest technology. It includes an advanced traffic management system. It features 152 emergency call boxes every four kilometers, 50 CCTV cameras, and 10 number plate detection radars.

The expressway also features a fire station, police cars, cattle catchers, and 16 ambulances for emergencies. If you’re in the mood for a new adventure, don’t hesitate to try the expressway out.

An underpass is an important part of an expressway. It can help reduce travel time between two destinations and make driving safer. In fact, it’s more common than you might think. An underpass can improve safety for both drivers and passengers.

Away from the expressway, you’ll be able to see landmarks along the way that are worth visiting. It will also reduce travel time by up to half and encourage business and investment in the region.

Agra Lucknow Expressway Green Belt

The new Agra Lucknow Expressway is expected to increase the number of people who can commute by car from Delhi and Lucknow in less than two hours. The expressway is expected to stretch from Saifai village to the state capital Delhi.

Until now, the connectivity of these two cities was a hindrance to the development of real estate in those cities. The launch of the new Expressway has changed all that.

The Agra-Lucknow Expressway will have a width of 110 meters and expand to eight lanes if necessary. Approximately 8,500 acres of land will be needed for the expressway. Over 85 percent of this land is already secured for the project.

Agra Lucknow Expressway Cost of Project

The project will cost Rs 15,000 crore. It will connect the main districts of Agra and Lucknow. Once completed, it is expected to cut travel times by three to four hours.

Besides being a natural barrier against pollution and ensuring safe driving, the Expressway also features underpasses for animals and pedestrians. This highway will help develop industries in the areas along the expressway, such as food processing and milk manufacturing.

It will also facilitate the establishment of new educational and medical institutes. The Expressway is also expected to create satellite cities. In the long run, this investment will create jobs for local residents and increase the city’s economy.

Besides improving interstate connectivity in Uttar Pradesh, the Agra-Lucknow Expressway Project is the longest expressway in India. At 302 km, it is the longest expressway in the country and will serve as a landing strip for aircraft.

Length of Lanes

The six-lane project will be 110 meters wide and will be built from the ground up, with the remaining portion being used for a green belt. The road will include a carriageway and underpasses for cattle and pedestrians.

The Agra-Lucknow Expressway will take three and a half hours to complete. The existing Lucknow-Delhi Expressway will take five to six hours to complete the journey. As a result, this road will improve the speed and efficiency of travel in the two cities.

The project is a much-hyped project. When the Samajwadi Party’s Mulayam Singh Yadav laid the foundation stone for the expressway, he promised developers that it would be completed in 22 months.

The expressway has a designated stretch for warlike emergencies. In October 2017, the IAF conducted a dedicated exercise on the highway. In addition to the runway, the IAF successfully landed Sukhoi Su-30MKI and Lockheed C-130J Super Hercules fighter jets.

Safety Provision

The Chief Secretary of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath has ordered that all helplines and milestones should be placed on the Agra Lucknow Expressway, a busy route linking the city with the state capital of Delhi.

The new measures are designed to reduce accidents on the expressway. The Chief Secretary has also directed officials to fill all the vacancies in the transport department. After the massive road accident that claimed the life of senior IAS officer Navneet Sehgal, safety on the expressway is a priority.

Government Role

The Uttar Pradesh government decided to implement the Agra-Lucknow Expressway project through state-government financing. While it did not grant free land parcels for construction across the expressway, the government decided to hire private developers for 5 patches of the road.

Developers finalized their proposals for each patch of the expressway. The Agra-Lucknow Expressway was opened to the public on 23 February 2017. While the road is in its final stages, accidents and other road safety concerns continue to hinder traffic.

The Agra Lucknow Expressway is equipped with 152 emergency call boxes located every 4 km. Moreover, the expressway features 50 CCTV cameras and 10 number plate detection radar cameras.

These cameras help in speed detection and serve e-challans to speeding vehicles. Further, these cameras also allow the ATMS control room to monitor the flow of traffic on the expressway. And, all of these emergency services are free of charge.

UPEIDA Provisions

In order to prevent further accidents, the Uttar Pradesh Expressway Industrial Development Authority has introduced a rule to make it mandatory for two-wheeler riders to wear helmets while traveling on the expressway.

The rules have been enforced by the UPEIDA. In addition, the Expressway has installed high-tech cameras at the toll plazas to capture pictures of vehicles and report them to the Superintendent of traffic in Agra and Lucknow.

The e-way will be operational from January 31. Along with these, four spots will have petrol pumps, eateries, and civic amenities.

The e-way will make the six-hour journey from Delhi 30 minutes shorter. For those who prefer to drive through the city, the existing Yamuna Expressway is 193 km from Noida and has a signboard for Kanpur. Another ‘inner ring road’ will turn off to Agra.
